Aside from farming, fishing is one of the main sources of income in the Philippines, particularly in rural areas.
Due to the large bodies of water surrounding our country, Filipinos have learned to fish as a way to financially sustain their families.
As a result of the rich minerals of our oceans and seas, fishermen take home a bountiful supply of large and fresh fish.
This man, however, was able to catch himself an extremely large fish.
Fisherman Arnold Constantino did not expect that he would be able to reel in a Lapu-lapu that is larger than him. The said fish was caught in Pandan, Antique on April 26, 2017 weighing around 200 kilos and is 7 feet in length.
Townsfolk gathered around and marveled at the size of the said fish. Some even took pictures of the marine animal as it is one of a kind.
Afterwards, Constantino decided to bring the creature to the Kalibo Public Market in order to claim whatever amount the fish would be worth.
Market people sliced the fish in order to see if it could be sold. Upon cutting it open, everyone was shocked and got scared of what they saw.
The citizens were surprised to find a security guard’s badge inside the fish which Constantino caught.
Most of them were afraid that the fish might have eaten a live person. However, fish are known to eat dead bodies floating around the sea.
Theoretically, the badge could have either belonged to an official who lost it at sea or to a man who was still in uniform but later drowned in the ocean.
Whatever the reason is, this fish must have eaten a lot during its lifetime in order to grow as long as 7 feet.
