Social media is a powerful tool that can either destroy a person or help others who are in desperate need.
The case of netizen Eugene Felix is the latter. He posted an appeal to his friends and to the public seeking help for his friend’s nephew who is suffering from a rare kind of skin disease.
His status read: “may isang kaibigan kasi ako na may napakaLaking problema.. sa murang edad ng pamangkin nya.. (7months old) dinaranas nya ang pambihirang klaseng sakit.. nagsusugat yung katawan at pati muka ay meron na din..”
“kung nais nyong makatuLong may contact # ng ina ng bata.. at kung saang hospital naka confined hindi na nila kaya gastusin sa gamot at bill sa hospital...”
Felix said that he would appreciate any amount, as long as the child gets cured immediately. He shared a series of Facebook conversations that he had, which described the child’s condition.

Felix also shared the contact details of the baby’s mother, in case people were interested in offering their help.
Based on the post, doctors were unable to determine what exactly the child suffered from. However, in one of Felix’s screenshots, it was mentioned that the child initially had smallpox. Afterwards, he developed a blood infection.
According to him: “Siya lang ang naiiba ang sugat sa lahat ng nagkabulutong kc maalalim ang sugat nya at malalaki.. Kahit ang mga doktor nagtataka kung bakit naging ganun ang sugat nya”
