General Santos City Was Struck By A 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake!


The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDDRMC) has raised a RED alert in Sarangani after the province was hit by a 7.2 earthquake today (Saturday, April 29, 2017) at 8 a.m.

"Based on tsunami wave models and early tide gauge records of the tsunami in the Philippine Sea, coastal areas in Philippine provinces fronting the Celebes Sea are expected to experience wave heights of less than one meter above the normal tide levels," Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) stated.

General Santos City Was Struck By A 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake!

The province's Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said that they recorded 7 aftershocks. Residents living in coastal areas have already been ordered to evacuate in case of a tsunami.

As of now, there are no reports of casualties but response teams are on the move to help residents affected by the quake.
